Receiving Dominion

John 1:11: He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Some seem to believe that they can receive a Jesus who does not have any authority or dominion over them. A Jesus like that is not the Jesus of the Bible. We cannot receive Jesus and reject His dominion.

Ephesians 1:17: That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

1 Peter 4:11: If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 5:11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Jude 1:25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Revelation 1:6: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

It has been said and proven over and over that nations that will not be governed by God will be governed by tyrants. Likewise individuals who will not be governed by God will be governed by tyrants. Specifically they will be governed by sin. When individuals receive Jesus sin has no more dominion over them. In varying degrees Jesus will have dominion over them. One day it will be total. He loves us. The more we receive His dominion the better.

Romans 6:14: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Jude 1:8: Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

Vance Havner wisely said:

When Christ is living in a heart He should be in charge of the place.
